The Tessera Method

A first look

Seven questions, about three minutes. At the end, what they suggest about the shape of your life right now, written plainly.

Seven answers is not a life. What you get at the end is written from yours, but it is working with very little.

The journal gives it the rest: the scenes you write, and the sentences you place yourself in, across body, mind, relationships, work and meaning.

Nothing here is recorded or sent.

Before the questions

What made you open this?

A sentence or two. Whatever was actually going through your mind. It is optional, and it is the line most likely to appear in your reading.

One of seven

What does your energy actually do across a day?

Not what it should do. What it does.

Two of seven

How much of your current life would you have chosen, if no one were watching?

No one: not family, not colleagues, not the version of you people expect.

Three of seven

Who in your life is currently a little annoyed with you?

Not a rift. The ordinary friction of having wanted something someone else did not.

Four of seven

Who in your life knows the unedited version of you?

Not the competent edition. The actual one.

Five of seven

When did someone last ask how you actually were, and wait for the answer?

Not in passing. The version where they waited.

Six of seven

What is in your calendar in the next three months that you are looking forward to?

Actually in it, with a date. Not something you intend to arrange.

Seven of seven

Last week, how many hours went to something that was only for you?

Count honestly. Sleep does not count.
